This is an extremely mind opening book. It takes place in Germany during WWII but it has a twist to it. Unlike most WWII books, this book is written through the eyes of a nine year old boy. In this book you will meet Bruno, a typical “young man” who loves to slide down banisters and explore. His Father is an important officer in the German army and soon Brunos world is changed. Bruno and his family have to move to a much smaller house in “Out With” where there seems to be only soldiers and…..people dressed in striped pajamas. At first, Bruno is homesick and constantly bored. Soon however, things ,he can’t seem to understand, begin to happen; and exploring seems to be the only way to get answers.

This book is clean and a wonderful read for 8th grade and up. I really enjoyed it.
